Lower Back Pain, Lower Back, Back Pain, Back Ache, Pinched Nerve, Numbness, Tingling, Sciatica Pain Relief, Sciatica, injury, back injury, work injurySciatica is known for pain that spreads along the sciatic nerve from the lower back to the buttocks and then down the back of one of the legs. It generally is felt from the buttock to the back of the thigh or calf. Usually, only one leg is affected.

The pain can be dull and achy, extremely sharp and stabbing, or anywhere in between. It can sometimes feel like an electric jolt or shock. It worsens when a person coughs or sneezes. Sitting for long periods can aggravate the condition. Some people also have numbness, tingling, or even muscle weakness in the leg or foot. One part of the leg may be numb, while pain may be present somewhere else.

It may sound strange, but often the underlying source of sciatica is in the upper area of the neck. If a misalignment is present in either the C1 or C2 vertebra, it can lead to problems throughout the entire spine. The spine is comprised of muscles, joints, and ligaments that all work in conjunction with one another. A misalignment at the top of spine creates issues with a person’s posture and balance, causing nerves to become irritated and inflamed. This is what leads to the symptoms of sciatica.

Sciatica Relief in Spring Lake Park, MN

At Hejny Chiropractic, we use a dedicated technique to find where the individual misalignment lies with each patient. After this is determined, we use a gentle method that helps the bones of the neck to move back into place naturally. This does not require me to pop or force the spine back into shape. By using this mild procedure, the body’s natural healing ability takes over and begins repairing the damage done to the nerves of the spine. This will often lead to an elimination of sciatic pain.
