The Underlying Cause of Fibromyalgia

While doctors and scientists are unable to agree on the exact cause of fibromyalgia, one area that is being linked with the condition is previous head or neck trauma. Those who have been in car accidents or other types of trauma that affected the head or neck seem to have a stronger risk for getting fibromyalgia. The trauma may have occurred many years ago. As a person ages, the effects seem to appear. Often this is due to a misalignment in the upper neck vertebrae. This places undue pressure on the brainstem and can cause irritation. It also can hinder communication to and from the brain and body, causing a person to feel a heightened sense of pain.

Fibromyalgia Helped by Upper Cervical Chiropractic

Upper cervical chiropractors are specifically trained to detect and correct misalignments in the upper neck. It only takes a misalignment of ¼ of a millimeter to wreak havoc throughout the entire body. Many health problems can develop, including fibromyalgia. By using special x-rays, it can be determined exactly where the misalignment lies. Then, a scientific method consisting of measurements and a gentle adjustment of a specific area of the neck to help realign the bones is used. I do not pop or twist the spine. Rather, this gentle adjustment allows the bones to move back into position, and the healing properties of the body can take over to repair the damage done. Many patients report feeling much improvement in their fibromyalgia symptoms after only a few visits.
