Vertigo Relief, Dizziness Relief, Dizzy, Meniere’s Relief, Vertigo, Dizziness, Meniere’s, Meniere’s DiseaseVertigo is an extremely common medical complaint.  When you feel like the world is spinning out of control around you, or that you are moving when you’re actually still, it can be a frightening experience.  There are many causes of vertigo, including Meniere’s disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), and several other conditions that cause inflammation or damage to the inner ear.

Relieving vertigo can prove to be quite difficult.  The most popular type of medications used to treat are designed to inhibit, or block, the vestibular system.  Here’s a list of some of the more common relief options for vertigo sufferers:

  • Antihistamines
  • Anti-nausea or anti-vomiting medications
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Bed rest
  • Epley’s repositioning maneuver

I Tried Those Options – Now What?

Whether you’ve tried these options with little success, or you’re looking for a drug-free option with lasting results, upper cervical chiropractic may have some of the answers you’ve been looking for.  The top two vertebrae in your neck can cause some serious health problems if they are misaligned.  They can create abnormal pressure within the brainstem and spinal cord, which can affect how your brain is able to process information, including signals that tell the brain where your body is positioned in space.  This can lead to many of the debilitating symptoms.

In a study of 60 patients with chronic vertigo, all were found to have specific misalignments in the upper cervical spine, commonly because of some type of injury that occurred earlier in life.  After receiving adjustments designed to restore normal spinal alignment, 48 out of the 60 participants had a complete resolution of their dizziness symptoms.  The remaining 12 experienced a reduction in their symptoms.  If you’ve been suffering from spinning and have not been checked by an upper cervical chiropractor, please contact us to see if we can get you the help you’ve been seeking.
