Inability to get a decent night’s sleep is one of the most insidious symptoms of fibromyalgia. In fact, researchers have discovered that regular 8 hour nights of sleep could actually decrease the pain of fibromyalgia. But how can you get enough sleep to help your condition if the condition itself causes sleepless nights? Here are a few tips to help break the painful cycle.
- Keep your room dark at bedtime. It is especially important to resist the temptation to use your phone while lying in bed. The light of a smartphone can be enough to keep your body from producing enough melatonin to get you to sleep.
- Stop eating a couple of hours before you intend to sleep.
- Don’t have any caffeine within six hours of when you intend to sleep.
- Get some exercise. The pain may keep you from wanting to exercise, but a little low impact cardio during the day can help you sleep better at night.
Standard relief care for chronic fatigue often involves everything from prescription drugs to injections. While these may help ease some of the symptoms associated with chronic fatigue, they are far from a cure. Because of this, many are seeking alternative methods of relief care.

When the atlas is misaligned, tension is increased in the spinal cord. This, in turn, distorts messages between the brain and the body. Some of the results can be pain, fatigue, and other chronic health conditions.
At Hejny Chiropractic, Atlas Orthogonal is used to put the atlas back in proper alignment. As a result, messages between the brain and body can once again pass normally. Often, this results in fewer chronic fatigue symptoms or even complete resolution.
Tedder et al. released a study involving a woman of 32 who was experiencing chronic pain as well as fatigue. Her condition was also limiting her ability to sleep. After 6 months of upper cervical adjustments (8 adjustments total), her symptoms completely resolved.
