Headaches, Migraines, Headache, Migraine, Headache Relief, Migraine ReliefDid you know that 1 in 6 women in the U.S. experience migraines? (1) The pain of migraines can impair your ability to complete your daily activities and can affect your ability to spend quality time with friends and loved ones.

5 Common Migraine Triggers

  1. Stress
  2. Too much or too little sleep
  3. Skipping meals
  4. Hormonal changes
  5. Certain foods/chemicals (i.e. aged cheeses, caffeine, MSG, citrus fruit)

Avoiding these triggers may provide short-term relief, but while this method can be an effective short-term solution, many patients are seeking alternative methods to address the underlying cause of their migraines. Here at Hejny Chiropractic, we want you to be able to engage fully in your daily activities without worrying about getting a migraine.

Your Spine and Migraines

Did you know that your spine is responsible for protecting your spinal cord? Your spinal cord is responsible for sending messages to and from your brain. The proper function of your spinal cord is integral to your health. When the top bone in your spine (atlas) misaligns, this creates pressure within your spinal cord. This pressure causes the messages going to and from your brain to be distorted. This may lead to increased muscle tension, pain in the head or face, and other migraine symptoms.

I am Board Certified in Atlas Orthogonal – a specific chiropractic technique designed to locate and correct atlas misalignments. Atlas Orthogonal involves a very gentle and specific atlas correction, with no popping or cracking. Through realigning the atlas, the pressure in the spinal cord is reduced, allowing proper messages to be sent to and from the brain. This may lead to a reduction in migraine symptoms.

Elster presented the case of a 35-year-old female who suffered from daily migraines and tension headaches for 12 years. After 3 months of specific atlas care, her migraine symptoms were eliminated. (2)
