Back Pain, Back Ache, Sciatica, Lower Back Pain, Pinched NerveWhen a person suffers from sharp pains in the lower back region, numbness or tingling in the legs, and hip pain, they more-than-likely are dealing with the pain of sciatica. Even though the pain seems to be located only in the lower back, it may be surprising to learn the cause of the pain may be a lot higher. It could be coming from a misalignment in the upper neck area.

The entire spine works together. When an accident or injury happens to the head or neck and damages the top two vertebrae, the lower back (lumbar spine) can certainly be affected. In a way, it is like feeling an earthquake many miles away from the actual epicenter of the quake.

The top two vertebrae, the atlas and axis bones, are susceptible to misalignment. Only ¼ of a millimeter can throw off the alignment of the spine, affecting posture, hip, and lower back position. When this occurs, the sciatic nerve can become irritated. This nerve is located near the hips in the lower back. Until this misalignment of the upper neck is fixed, the pain of the lower back will remain.

Natural Relief Care for Lasting Sciatica Relief

Many turn to medication to ease the pain. While that may give some temporary relief, it comes along with some serious side effects, and it is not guaranteed to work. Many are looking for alternative, natural relief that really works. Does this exist?

Upper cervical chiropractors see positive results when relieving patients with sciatica. We begin by giving the patient a full examination of the upper neck to determine whether or not a misalignment is the actual cause of sciatica. We will also examine the patient’s posture to see if it is being affected. By using a gentle and effective technique, we get the spine back into alignment. This will improve posture and balance the hips, often leading to the elimination of sciatic pain.
